Rookwood Pottery

Hello, This past weekend, on the 19th of March at Richmond Big Flea my husband happened to come into our booth and noticed that a Rookwood "Peacock Feather" Vase in matte blue was stolen, and what was so maddening he had just purchased it the weekend before! Sorry no picture, but if any should see one for sale please let us know. Thanks, Karen and Artie Maddox, Back Barn Antiques, Marbury, MD.

If you hear about either of these pots and/or their whereabouts please contact Karen and Artie at AntiqueCrazy224@aol.com.  Thank you!

Reported March 15, 2006

Could you please list 2 pots I had stolen from me at 2 consecutive shows.  Thank you, Rod Ganser, rodpots@rcn.com

# 1.)  ROOKWOOD POTTERY THEFT

6" Rookwood Scenic Vellum with a lot of pinkish red in the sky.  It was by Sallie Coyne.  The base had her mark on it, the Rookwood logo, XXII and the shape number 924

The first theft occurred at the North Carolina Antiques Extravaganza in Richmond, VA, the last weekend in February.  I believe a dealer entered my booth after I closed it on Thursday afternoon or evening during setup since several large pieces of silver also disappeared at that  time from another dealer's booth.  I never noticed the pot was missing until I set up at Chantilly but realized I had never seen it during the show in Richmond after I put it out.  Customers always comment on the pot and no one did during that show, probably because it was never there.

# 2.)  FRENCH POTTER EDMUND LACHENAL

2 1/2" tall, about 3 or 3 1/2" wide and made of stoneware.  It had a dripping glaze in brown, olive, blue, green and burgundy colors.  The circular edge of the base was rough because of the thick glazes.  It was signed in slip "EL 113", the EL being Edmund Lachenal's signature.

The following week between 10 o'clock and 1 o'clock on Saturday, March 4,2006, someone stole a pot by the French potter Edmund Lachenal.  This was at the D.C. Big Flea in Chantilly.

I do not have pictures of either and do not know if you post stolen property on the internet without a photo, but since  each piece is a one-of-a-kind vase, I thought the information might still lead to their being found.

If you hear about either of these pots and/or their whereabouts please contact Rod at rodpots@rcn.com.  Thank you!

George Ohr Pottery

Reported August 6, 2005

There were about 20 pieces of George Ohr Pottery stolen in the month of July from an estate just outside New Orleans.  The photos are not the best quality, but the owner has circled the items that have been taken.  The pot on the AAPA home page leading to this link was also taken in the robbery.  If you know anything about this theft or hear about some rare Ohr Pottery surfacing in the marketplace, please contact the owner at stolenpots@cableone.net  Thank you.
